2017 civic hatch volume scroll1/15/2023 ![]() Across the LX, EX and EX-L Navi trims, the engine makes 174 horsepower and 162 pounds-feet of torque with the continuously variable automatic transmission or 167 pounds-feet with the six-speed manual. The Civic hatchback ditches the base engine found in the coupe and sedan and only offers the excellent turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder. ![]() It looks like more of a matte gray than a glossy paint job, and it’s a look that I can get behind. There’s also a new paint color, Sonic Gray Pearl (seen in some photos). The Sport and Sport Touring trims have unique styling changes, including a high-flow center-mounted dual exhaust, that dramatically set them apart from non-Sport models. ![]() And in a change for the better, the chrome strip found in the coupe’s and sedan’s grille is gone, replaced by a black one that I much prefer. The Civic hatchback features large black plastic inserts along its front and rear ends that I like, but it can be a bit much, especially with their prominent honeycomb pattern. But that’s not the only styling change to the back: A shorter rear overhang means the hatchback is 4.4 inches shorter than the sedan, making the rear wheels appear closer to the car’s end. ![]() The biggest exterior change is, of course, the rear hatch it provides easier access to the cargo area, which has grown (more on that later). I was able to test both Sport and Sport Touring models in Northern California to see if the hatchback was worth the wait. This gives the hatchback five trim options in all (listed from cheapest to most expensive): LX, Sport, EX, EX-L Navi and Sport Touring. Though the hatchback may look similar to the sedan at first glance, there are major differences between the two and Honda has introduced two new trim levels for the hatchback: Sport and Sport Touring. An example VIN number would be similar to MRHFK58# - Good things come in threes, and for Honda’s 2017 Civic, that’s certainly the case. The VIN number can be found on the Driver Side Front Floor and the compliance plate is located on the RH Side Bottom of B-Pillar. The Civic has received a 5 star rating from ANCAP. The 2017 Honda Civic VTi has a 134mm ground clearance with a 800kg braked and 500kg unbraked towing capacity. It requires a service every 12 months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first. The Civic VTi comes standard with 215/55 R16 front tyres and 215/55 R16 rear tyres. ![]() The Civic measures 1421mm (55.9 inches) in height, 4515mm (177.8 inches) in length, 1799mm (70.8 inches) in width with a 2700mm (106.3 inches) wheelbase that brings about a total of 1289kg (2841.8 lbs) of unladen weight. It has a 47L fuel tank, meaning it should be able to travel 734km per full tank. HONDA claims the Civic VTi uses 6.4L/100km of Unleaded Petrol in the combined city and highway cycle while putting out 150g of CO 2. The Civic is a front-wheel drive 5 door with 5 seats, powered by a 1.8L INLINE 4 engine that has 104 kW of power (at 6500 rpm) and 174 Nm of torque (at 4300 rpm) via a Continuous Variable. The Civic is regarded as a small car built in Thailand with prices from a dealer as a used car starting at $18,300. The 2017 Honda Civic VTi is a front-wheel drive five-door hatchback that was released to the Australian market on classified as a MY17. ![]()
